ROACH ELECTROCUTED AT SOUTH NORFOLK Came in Contact With Live Wire While Going to His Home ---Found by Neighbors in a Dying Condition Milton A. Roach, a well known citizen of South Norfolk, was killed almost instantly yesterday evening near his home on Ohio street by coming in contact with a live electric wire. About 8:45 o'clock Messrs. McPherson, Berry Davis and others, while returning from work, saw Mr. Roach lying in the street and went to his assistance as quickly as possible, and on reaching his side found him unconscious but not quite dead. His Hands Tell Story Both hands were scorched by coming in contact with the wire and the back of his head was bruised by striking the ground or curbing. He was within a block and a half from his home when he was shocked. A coroner's jury was summoned soon after the accident and viewed the remains. The verdict was to the effect that Mr. Roach came to his death by coming in contact with a live electric wire, the property of whom being unknown to the jury. Well Known Citizen Mr. Roach was 46 years old last Sunday and is survived by his wife and two children, Miss Lelia Roach and Orris Roach. He was born and reared at Mount Pleasant , Norfolk county, and has lived in South Norfolk for about six years. He was always keenly interested in the welfare of the community and was at one time a magistrate there. Before coming to this section he was engaged in farming. He was a member of Liberty Street M.E. Church, South Norfolk. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. ************************************************************** The funeral of Milton A. Roach, of South Norfolk, took place at 4 o'clock in the home in Rogers avenue. The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley ward. Rev. V.W. Bargamin, pastor of Liberty Street M.E. Church, officiated. Oakdale Lodge, No. 70, I.O.O.F. and Tidewater Council, No. 30, Jr. O.U.A.M. attended in a body, the deceased being a member of those orders.
