Norfolk Virginian Pilot Thursday October 28, 1943
Emma Jane Parker Roberson, aged 73, died yesterday morning at 7 o'clock after a 
long illness at her residence, 1507 Liberty street, South Norfolk.  She was a 
native of Chowan County, North Carolina and had made her home in this section 20 
years.  Mrs. Roberson was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Smith Parker 
and wife of Joe C. Roberson.  Besides her husband, she is survived by two 
daughters, Mrs. W.M. Ashley, of Tyner, N.C. and Mrs. F. J. Carter, of 
Portsmouth; four sons, John C., Joseph M., and Sherman L Roberson, all of South 
Norfolk and Edward M. Roberson, of Great Bridge; 17 grandchildren and a great-
grandchild.  The body was removed to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, Ohio and 
Rodgers streets, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted 
tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
