Andrew Thomas Roberts, 60, of 1215 Hanson avenue, died at his residence on 
Monday about 10:30 a.m.  He had been in failing health about five years, but 
was a member of the maintenance staff of The Guide Publishing Company from 
June 1954 until he retired Oct. 26 this year.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 23, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist 
Church on Armstrong street.  The pastor, the Rev. W. M. Jordan, will 
officiate.

Mr. Roberts, who was a minister, was a deacon at Mt. Zion, where he had been 
a member about 10 years.  He was a native of Surry county, VA, but had lived 
in Norfolk 21 years.  He was licensed to preach in 1927 in Surry county 
under the pastorate of the Rev. Mr. Foster.  He was never a pastor, but did 
considerable preaching in his younger years.

Rev. Mr. Roberts is survived by his widow, Mrs. Janie Roberts;  two 
daughters, Mrs. Alice Cooper and Mrs. Eddie Spruill;  six grandchildren, one 
great grandchild, five brothers, the Rev. James Roberts and Leslie Roberts, 
both of Hopewell, VA;  the Rev. Lee Roberts, Pittsburgh, PA;  Willie 
Roberts, Dendron, VA;  and Copie Roberts, Washington DC;  two sisters, Mrs. 
Marth Cooper, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Sarah Jacobs, Hopewell, several nieces 
and nephews and other relatives.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Home in charge 
of funeral arrangements.
