He was born in Norfolk on May 23, 1916. He was the son of the late William Ballard Robinson and Constance Launell Robinson. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, he retired as a supervisor from Virginia Power after 30 years. He was also retired from Human Resources, city of Norfolk. Willie was a faithful and loving husband for more than 65 years. He was a dutiful father, showering his children with love and concern. He was quiet and gentle but firm in his desire to be a loyal caretaker. He was slow to speak, but when he opened his mouth, words of cheer, comfort, support and sound guidance came forth. He always put the welfare of his wife and family above his own. Until the very end, he kept the perspective of ``others first, self last.'' We will truly miss him, but we bow in submission to the will of Almighty God, who gave Willie to us for a long time and has now called him home from labor to reward. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Rosa Mae Robinson; four daughters, Willie Mae Powell of Chesapeake, Constant Faine of Upper Marlboro, Md., Rosalyn Johnson of Hampton and Rosa McNeil of Norfolk; a son, Ballard William Robinson of Norfolk; two devoted sons-in-law, Curtis Powell of Chesapeake and Frederick Faine of Upper Marlboro; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Jake Manley officiating on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery . Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at 2412 Lloyd Drive, Chesapeake, George Town Point.
