The Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 6, 1943
Mathias Leighton Rodgers, aged 52, son of the late William J. and Ada Gardner 
Rodgers, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 7 o'clock. He is 
survived by a son, William Newton Rodgers, of Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. 
C.J. Miller, of Norfolk; Mrs. H.L. Richardson, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. S.L. 
Wright, of Holland; two brothers, Allen B. Rodgers, U.S. Navy, and Rufus L. 
Rodgers, of Princess Anne County, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rodgers 
was a native of Baltimore, and had been a resident of Norfolk most of his life.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
