She was first vice president of the Norfolk Society of Arts and had been corresponding secretary of the Irene Leache Memorial since 1918. Miss Rogers was chiefly active in stimulating an interest in and a love for literature and art by the whole community. This work she carried on for years as chairman of the bureau of lectures of the Irene Leache Memorial, an association which sponsors, free of charge, lectures on cultural subjects on Thursday afternoons through the fall and winter seasons, until a few years ago when she was succeeded by Miss Sallie Shepherd. She was chairman of the contest bureau of the "Memorial" from 1919 to her death This bureau encouraged talented writers and painters to produce the best in literature and art for the prizes it offers annually in prose, poetry and painting. Arrangements for the 1933-1934 contest were completed in her last illness. For her work in spreading culture through her community, Miss Rogers was honored outside her own State. In recognition of her work done in the interest poetry, The Poetry Society of Alabama made her an honorary member for life. This is one of the largest poetry societies of the South. She also was a member of the Poetry Society of Virginia and of the Poetry Society of America. Miss Rogers taught at the old Irene Leitch(?) School and at the Fitch School and later conducted a school of her own for boys. Miss Rogers remains will be taken from the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Curd, 724 Boissevain avenue, to old St. Paul's Church for funeral services tomorrow at 12 o'clock noon. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
