Death of an Esteemed Lady
The death of Miss Mary Rohan on Wednesday morning, although expected for some 
days, caused a feeling of deep and heartfelt sadness among a large circle of 
intimate friends as well as among those who were acquainted with the record of her 
life — a life as pure and beautiful and unselfish as ever existed. Her existence 
seemed to consist in a single object and for a single purpose, which was an 
unceasing love for God and an unceasing effort to relieve pain and suffering. She 
had not a single thought of self, and she was never at rest, except when, with a 
tenderness that could only come from goodness, she was engaged in some work of 
mercy. In the discharge of her works of charity, nothing ever deterred her, and 
her loss will be a great one to the poor whose friend she always was. Her funeral 
will take place this morning at 10 o’clock, from St. Mary’s Church, on which 
occasion a solemn requiem mass will be sung.
