Virginian-Pilot, December 29, 1911
Mrs. H. F. Rolland, widow of H. F. Rolland, died yesterday in Washington, 
D.C., after an illness of ten days resulting from being struck by a bicycle as 
she was getting off of a street car. She was 72 years old and until about two 
years ago was a resident of Norfolk. Her husband died six years ago.

Mrs. Harry Nixdorff, daughter of Mrs. Rolland, was in New York and went to 
Washington yesterday to be with her mother. She and her brother, William 
Rolland, will arrive from Washington this morning to make arrangements for the 
funeral and burial in this city. The body will arrive tomorrow morning.

Mrs. Rolland is survived by eight children, six daughters and two sons, Mrs. 
M. Spohn, Mrs. Frank Reynolds, Miss Bessie Rolland, of Washington; Mrs. C. L. 
Martin, of Newark, N.J.; Mrs. H. Tabb, Mrs. H. Nixdorff, of Norfolk; James 
Rolland and William Rolland, of Washington.

Having lived the greater part of her life in Norfolk, Mrs. Rolland was well 
known and highly esteemed here. Before her death her husband was associated 
with the Postal Telegraph Company.

Interment: Cedar Grove Cemetery
