The Virginian-Pilot, Friday, December 15, 1961

NORFOLK - Mrs. Annie Rooks, 82, of 914 Moran Ave. died Thursday in a Norfolk 
nursing home after a short illness.

She was a native of Norfolk, a daughter of Thomas and Mrs. Netha Johnson and the 
widow of Elijah Rooks.

She was a retired postal equipment worker from Washington with more than 30 
years of service. She also taught home economics at Booker T. Washington High 
School many years ago.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, and Mt. Herald Baptist 
Church, Washington, where she helped organize the Sunday school and usher board.

Surviving are four nieces and four nephews.

The body was taken to Graves Funeral Home. The funeral party will assemble in 
the home of Mrs. Carrie Freeman Phelps, 1821 Church St., Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
