Funeral services from the residence SUNDAY AFTERNOON at 3 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. **************** J.H. Rose died at his home, No. 11 Shields Street, at 6:05 o'clock yesterday morning after a month's illness. He was 71 years old. The deceased was a native of Germany, but came to this country when a young man and had been a resident of Norfolk for over half a century, where he was highly esteemed for his many excellent traits of character. At the beginning of the War Between the States he enlisted in the Confederate Army and followed its fortunes from the beginning to the close of hostilities. He was a member of Pickett-Buchanan Camp of Confederate Veterans. He is survived by six children, Frank Rose, Paul, Mrs. C.L. Wright, Mrs. T. Reese, Mrs. S.?. Petty and Mrs. D. Bafflet. Funeral from the residence Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Print very light in paper ******************************************************************************** The funeral of the late John H. Rose was held from the family residence, No. 11 Shields Street, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and was largely attended, including Pickett-Buchanan Camp, Confederate Veterans, of which the deceased was a member. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. Joseph Rennie, of the First Presbyterian Church. There was profusion of lovely floral tributes. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery and the pallbearers were as follows: Confederate Veterans - Maj. A. Myers and Walter A. Edwards Citizens- W.J. White, Edgar Runaldue, William Hoffman, John D. Smith, J.E. Slade and R.J. Malbone.
