Mr. Rose, although not a native of Norfolk, has been a resident for many years, and served with gallantry in the late war in the Norfolk Light Artillery Blues, of which he was a member. Since the war he has occupied a position in the drug store of M. A. & C. A. Santos, where he had established a reputation for honesty and integrity. He had been married comparatively a short time, and leaves a disconsolate widow and two children to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place from the late residence of the deceased at 2 o'clock this evening, and will be attended by the Norfolk Blues Memorial Association, of which he was an esteemed member, as also by Lafayette Lodge I. O. O. F. We tender our heartfelt sympathy with the widow and orphans of the deceased in their irreparable loss. Virginian-Pilot, March 16, 1870 AN ERROR. - In our issue of yesterday we inadvertently stated that Mr. Lewis Rose, whose death we announced, was a member of the Norfolk Light Artillery Blues, and of the Blues' Memorial Association. This was a mistake; Mr. Rose fought through the war in the celebrated Huger Battery, and of course could not be a member of the Blues' Memorial Association. In consequence this Society did not turn out at his funeral.
