Ross passed away May 22, 2004. She was the widow of William D. Ross who predeceased her. She was previously married to William A. Brady, also deceased. She lived all her life in the Bronx and in Yonkers, N.Y. She was born in Almeria, Spain and came to the United States as a small child with her parents, Juan Miras Castillo and Martirio Zea Miras. She had one brother, John V. Miras, who is survived by his widow, Ethel Miras. There were also two sisters, Jessie Hutt and Martha Fallon, who passed prior to her. Marie was a nurse for many years at Jewish Memorial Hospital in Manhattan, N.Y. She was very active in the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1666 in Yonkers, where she held various elected offices including president. Marie was also involved with the American Legion. She was also very supportive and a longtime member and volunteer in fundraising efforts of the Ida Bernstein Memorial League Inc. of New York City. She is survived by a large family including seven sons, William Brady of Virginia Beach, John Brady and his wife MaryEllen of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Howard Brady of West Palm Beach, Fla., Joseph G. Brady and his wife Mary Ann of Virginia Beach, Vincent P. Brady and his wife Deborah of Virginia Beach and Yonkers, Michael Brady and his wife Elissa of North Carolina and Kevin J. Brady and his wife Linda of Miami, Fla. She is also survived by many grandchildren in New York, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. Also leaving her two great-grandchildren of Virginia Beach and a soon-to-be-born great-grandchild in New York and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk. In lieu of any flowers, family members request that donations be made in Marie's memory to the Ida Bernstein Memorial League Inc., 54 Nagle Ave., New York, NY 10040.
