A second attack Sunday resulted in his death. He was born in Washington, N.C. in 1904 and was the son of the late John Franklin and Mrs. Caroline Dail Ross. He came to Norfolk in 1916 and was first employed by Norfolk National Bank in January 1919. His early education was received in the public schools of Washington, N.C. and Norfolk. He graduated from the American Institute of Banking in 1925. He was in charge of the Midtown Branch of the National Bank of Commerce at the time of his death. He was at one time treasurer of Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Sunday School and also treasurer at one time of the Norfolk Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was a member of the American Institute of Banking, the Virginia Club, the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce and Park Place Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Borland Ross; one sister, Miss Lyndall Caroline Ross, one brother, George Henry Ross, and two nieces, all of Norfolk. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments by the Rev. Herbert H. Smith of Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
