Clarence E. Ross NORFOLK - Clarence E. Ross of the 2200 block of Leander Drive
departed this life April 25, 2002.

A native of Norfolk (Lambert's Point), he was predeceased by his mother, Mrs.
Mattie Ross, sisters, Eleanor Felton, Alease Ross and brothers, Raymond Ross and
James V. Ross. Mr. Ross is survived by four nephews, Lionel Bullock and wife
Georgia of Virginia Beach, Clinton E. Felton of Long Island, N.Y., Raymond Ross
Jr. of Washington, D.C. and Gregory Ross of Norfolk; three nieces, Mrs. Hattie
Felton Prince of Warrenville Height, Ohio, Sheila Cox and husband William of
Quantico, Va., Katrina Ross of Norfolk and Joyce Johnson of Norfolk.

Mr. Ross was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Shaw
University and Norfolk State College, now Norfolk State University. He served in
the U.S. Army Air Force and retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Station.

Mr. Ross was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Bute Street. He served in
the music ministry of the church for a number of years, was a member of Phi Beta
Sigma Fraternity, The National Association of Negro Musicians and was a captain
in the U.S. Civil Air Patrol. The squadron is named in his honor, the ``C.E.
Ross Air Squadron.''

A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church Bute Street.
The Rev. Robert Murray, pastor, will preside. The family will be at the home of
Lionel Bullock, 6312 Bennington Road, Virginia Beach. Family and friends will
assemble there for the funeral procession to the church. Hale Funeral Home is
handling arrangements.
