Evangeline R. Rouse, daughter of Dorothy Rouse and the late Lindwood Rouse, 
answered the call to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. She was born 
Aug. 8, 1949, in Norfolk.

Evangeline was educated in the Norfolk Public School System, where she graduated 
from Booker T. Washington High School and received her bachelor of art degree in 
psychology in 1973 and her master of art degree in communications from Norfolk 
State College. She was a dedicated counselor of Norfolk Community Service Board.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving mother, Dorothy Rouse; three brothers, 
Joseph Rouse, Jerome Rouse and Herbert Rouse; four uncles, William Harris, Bernard 
Jones, Nathaniel Thomas and Melvin Rouse; two aunts; sisters-in-law; and a host of 
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Wednesday at the Basilica of St. Mary 
of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Viewing 
will begin Tuesday at 10 a.m., and a Christian wake will be at 7 p.m. at Pretlow 
and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
