Mr. Rudd served through the Civil war in the Confederate ranks, and was an esteemed member of Niemeyer-Shaw camp of Confederate veterans. In politics he was allied with the reform movement of the Democratic party and was always active around the pools, not only voting himself, but urged his friends to stand for that which he deemed for the betterment of the community. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma J. Rudd, and these nephews; Charles, Walter, William S. Rudd of this city, and Frank Rudd, of Baltimore. The funeral arrangements will be announced later." ********************************** The funeral of Edward Rudd will be held at his residence, Lee and Middleton streets, this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The services will be conducted by H.W. Dowding, pastor of the Portsmouth Christian church. Interment will be in Magnolia cemetery. The Sons of Confederate Veterans will attend the funeral in a body.
