Rudd, Sr., a prominent citizen of this ward, died at his home, 268 Maple avenue, at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, following a long illness. He was 68 years old and had resided in Berkley 34 years. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Charles E. Rudd, W.S. Rudd, Jr., Walter S. Rudd of this city and Frank M. Rudd of Baltimore and one brother, Edward Rudd. Mr. Rudd was born in Hampton, Va., and after living in Norfolk proper a number of years moved to Berkley in 1878. He was active in politics and when the town was incorporated was appointed Town Sergeant. He was a charter member of the Berkley Lodge of Elks, acting as its secretary practically from its organization until shortly before his death. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock from the family residence and interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
