He had been hospitalized for five days. A native of Virginia Beach, he moved to Norfolk when quite young and had alternated his residence here and at the Beach in
 recent years. His late parents were William B. and Mrs. Margaret Holly Rudolph. He was the husband of Mrs. Simmerman Rudolph. He collaborated in drawing plans for many business, school and church edifices in Norfolk and Princess Anne county. Notable among these were the new Federal Building, the new David G. Jacox School for Negroes, the new Boys’ Club, two additions to Leigh Memorial Hospital, addition to King’s Daughters’ Clinic. Also, Hotel Portsmouth, the Gay Manor and several other Virginia Beach hotels, many residences and a number of schools in Princess Anne, and the Eastern State Hospital at Dunbar, near Williamsburg. Graduated from Carnegie Tech, he won the Beaux Arts award while a student there for outstanding work in architecture. In World War I In World War I, he saw service with the Army Engineers. While overseas, he pursued post-graduate work in architecture in Rome and later at an American School in France. He started on his own as a practicing architect in 1921. Two years later he joined in partnership with William V. Cooke and George Van Leeuwen, to form Rudolph, Cooke and Van Leeuwen. Hooke died nine years ago and Van Leeuwen now becomes the only surviving member of the firm. He was a past commander of Princess Anne County Post No.113, American Legion; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and of Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Miss Ellen Frances Rudolph, and one son, Thomas Elbert Rudolph, both of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
