A funeral service was held recently at First Calvary Baptist Church for Mrs.
Emma Russell, 67, of 1269 Mapole avenue.  The Rev. C. E. Griffin, First Calvary
pastor, officiated.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Graves
Funeral Home.

A native of Surry county, VA, Mrs. Russell was a member of First Calvary.  She
was a resident of Norfolk for 49 years.

Her survivors include five sons, James Russell of Philadelphia;  Jack Russell of
Baltimore;  Willie and Sonny Russell of Brooklyn and John Russell of Richmond; 
seven daughters, Mrs. Lillian Faulkner and Mrs. Dorothy Courtney of Norfolk,
Miss Emma Russell of Newark, NJ, Miss Bessie Russell and Mrs. Margaret Evans of
Philadelphia;  Mrs. Mary Canady of Baltimore;  and Miss Helen Russell of
Petersburg;  and a sister, Mrs. Roxie Robinson of Waverly.
