Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 30, 2005 
NORFOLK - Leo Russell died Dec. 28, 2005, at DePaul Medical Center. He was born 
April 4, 1918, to the late Nathaniel "Nat" Russell and Minnie Burrus Russell of 
Scranton, N.C. He was in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Naval Supply Center 
in the transportation department.
He leaves to cherish his memory a granddaughter, Joy Hawkins (James) of Norfolk; 
one grandson, Gregory Russell (Jackie) of Northern Virginia; three great-
grandchildren, Jade and Jamie Hawkins of Norfolk and Gregory Russell Jr. of 
Northern Virginia; a special friend, Vera Patterson of Norfolk; and a host of 
other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon Saturday at Queen Street Baptist Church by Dr. 
Peter Wherry. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends 
will assemble at 936 Granite Arch one hour prior to the service for the 
procession. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
