She was born Nov. 21, 1927, to Emmett and Carrie Holmes. She was educated in the Norfolk public schools. She was a homemaker and a retired presser for Albano Cleaners. She was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church in Norfolk. She also was a member of Buccaneer Social and Savings Club. She is survived by her loving husband, Keith S. Russell Jr.; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Joyce and James Webster of Deltona, Fla., Jeanette and Eddie L. Williams Jr., Jacqueline and Bernard W. Jackson Jr., Iris and Bruce C. Heath, Louvenia and Edward L. Smith Jr., and Gale Russell, all of Norfolk; an aunt and uncle, Marie and Frank Curry of Laurel, Md.; a nephew, George Scruggs of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; cousins, and a host of friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 1710 Springfield Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. A.A. Parsons. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery . The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
