The Rev. Ronald Andrew Ruth, a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Richmond 
since 1970, died in his rectory in Richmond on Friday, March 10, 2000. He was 57 
years old and had served as a priest of the Diocese for 29 years.

At the time of his death, Father Ruth was serving as pastor of St. Edward Parish, 
where he had been serving as pastor for 11 years, since 1988.

He was predeceased by his father, Franklin Ruth. He is survived by his mother, 
Stella Hanas Ruth, of Clark, N.J., and his sister, Madeleine Veritas, of Mebane, 
N.C.

Father Ruth's body will lie in repose from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Epiphany 
Catholic Church, following a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m. His body will 
also lie in repose from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at the church. A funeral Mass will be 
celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Epiphany Catholic Church. Burial will take place 
at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Norfolk. Epiphany Catholic Church is 
located at 11000 Smoketree Drive in Richmond.
