Virginian-Pilot May 26, 1921
John J. Ryan, of Norfolk, died yesterday morning at Richmond, while visiting 
there. His death occurred after a protracted illness. He was formerly an employee 
of the city. He is survived by three sons, W. B., P. J. and J. J. Ryan, and a 
brother, Martin J. Ryan, all of Norfolk. The body will be taken from the home, 824 
Granby street, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for funeral services Friday morning 
at 10 o’clock. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
