Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark October 29, 1922

Mrs. Mary Ryan, widow of Matthew Ryan, died at the residence, 408 South 
Reservoir Avenue, at 12:15 o'clock Saturday morning. She is survived by one 
daughter, Mrs. Robert J. Carty; two sons, M.F. and J.S. Ryan, all of Norfolk and 
two sisters, Mrs. Annie Daugherty of Portsmouth, ten grandchildren and two 
great-grandchildren. The body will be taken from the residence of her son-in-
law, Robert J. Carty, No. 412 South Reservoir Avenue, to St. Mary's Catholic 
Church, for funeral service Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in St. 
Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Ryan was a native of Ireland, but had been a resident of 
this city for more than seventy years.

Remains will be taken from the residence of her son-in-law, Robert J. Carty, 412 
South Reservoir Ave., to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for funeral services MONDAY 
MORNING at 10 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment in 
St. Mary’s Cemetery.
