Ryan died yesterday. He was 44 years old and had been in failing health for some time. He was one of the best known citizens in Norfolk. For years he was employed as a mail carrier and was later transferred to one of the departments in the Norfolk post office. Up to the time he was taken ill Mr. Ryan was always bright and cheerful. He always looked on the bright side of life and helped others to do so. He was a member of Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks and was held in high esteem. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a son of Mary A. and the late Matthew Ryan and is survived by his mother, two brothers, M.V. and J.S. Ryan and one sister, Mrs. Robert J. Carty, all of Norfolk. Arrangements for the funeral were not completed last night. ******************************************************************************* RYAN - On Saturday, December 12, 1914, at 7:30 o’clock p.m., WILLIAM P. RYAN, in the 45th year of his age. Remains will be taken from the residence, No. 916 Waverly street, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for funeral services TUESDAY MORNING at 10 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend.
