Norfolk Virginian September 29, 1896

Mrs. Marian Ryan, wife of Mr. Michael Ryan, died Sunday  morning at the age of 
forty-five years, after a protracted illness. The funeral took place at 3:30 
o'clock yesterday afternoon from the residence on Highland Avenue and was largely 
attended. Rev. Father Doherty, of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiated. The 
floral display was very beautiful. The following pallbearers bore the remains to 
their last resting place in St. Mary's Cemetery: Samuel J. Morrow, D.S. Baum. R.H. 
Mapp, F.H. Campe, H.E. Chase, Benjamin Steele, William Lynn and W.A. Neville Jr.
