Salacup, 89, of the 300 block of Ridgewell Ave., a retired Navy chief petty officer, died Aug. 17, 1988, in a hospital. Mr. Salacup, a native of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, retired from the Navy after 30 years. He served in World War I and World War II. He worked as a civil servant at the Navy supply center, Norfolk Naval Base, for 12 years before retiring a second time. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church. Survivors include his wife, Teodora C. Salacup; a stepdaughter, Amy Folante of Virginia Beach; two sons, Proceso J. Salacup Jr. of Norfolk and L. Salacup of Hampton; a stepson, Ben Carandang of Alberta, Canada; two sisters, Genera Salacup of the Philippines and Emilia Visaya of Toronto; a brother, Pete Salacup of Sun City, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Pastors Nelson S. Pallasa and Don Shaw. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
