Born in Norfolk, he had retired from civil service at the Supply Department, NAS, with 30 years of service. He was a member of Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a merchant seaman during World War II. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Mitchell Salmons; a daughter, Loretta A. Salmons of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Cynthia A. Roberts and Deborah L. Bachtell; and two great-grandchildren, Paige Bias and Lauren Roberts, all of Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Paul F. Alphin. He was predeceased by a daughter, Doris Jean Salmons. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Susan Cothran. There will be no visiting but friends may view at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, after 3 p.m. today.
