Mrs. Salopek was the daughter of the late Harry and Elma Garner Knapp and was the widow of Thomas F. Salopek. Mrs. Salopek retired after 20 years of service with Norfolk General Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Stella Maris No. 1881 in Virginia Beach. She was also a member of Legion of Mary. Survivors include three sons, Gregory T. Salopek and his wife Kathryn of Norfolk, Daniel P. Salopek and his wife Kim of Prince George, Va. and Eric J. Salopek and his wife Lisa of Palmyra, Va.; two daughters, Carolyn S. Sanford and her husband Tab of Chesapeake and Annette Ryan of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Eleanor R. LaMountain of Westfield, Mass. and Dorothy A. Aponik of North Kingston, R.I.; and a brother, David H. Knapp of Westfield. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. A rosary service was said at 7 p.m. Friday at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Memorial donations can be made to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Mrs. Salopek's name.
