Virginian-Pilot  May 10, 1950
John Sands, 81, son of C. C. and Mrs. Alice Morris Sands, a native of Portsmouth 
and a lifelong resident of this section, died yesterday at 8:30 p. m. at the 
residence, 1722 Bolling Avenue. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church 
and Norfolk Lodge No. 39, Loyal Order of Moose.

Surviving him are two step-sons, Joseph V. Tobin and Thomas F. Tobin, Jr., of 
Norfolk.

The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Holy Trinity 
Catholic Church, Ocean View, for services tomorrow at 10 a. m. Burial will be in 
St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments tonight at 7:30 o’clock.
