SANFORD DIES OF HIS INJURIES Mr. C.S. Sanford, who was injured by falling from one of the Berkley street railway cars at the corner of Liberty street and Poindexter avenue, South Norfolk, Friday night, died from the effects of the injuries received Sunday morning at 7:10 o'clock, in his home, on Seaboard avenue, that place. Soon after the death occurred Dr. F.M. Morgan, coroner, empanelled a jury and viewed the remains and gathered the circumstances connected with the mishap, but adjourned without rendering a verdict, to meet again Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was about 45 years old and leaves a widow and six small children to mourn their loss. The deceased was superintendent of the E.H. Barnes Box company's mill and was very popular in both Berkley and South Norfolk, where he was well known. He was a sober and industrious man and held in the highest esteem by his employers and fellow workmen. After the fall Friday night he never regained consciousness, despite the fact he lived about thirty-one hours after the injuries. He was an esteemed member of secret orders as follows: Past grand of Lee Lodge No. 74; Oakdale encampment No. 37 and Oakdale Lodge No. 70, I.O.O.F. and Thomas Jefferson council No. 109, Jr. O.U.A.M. The funeral will be conducted from the late residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The fraternal orders of which he was a member will pay their last tribute of respect by attending the funeral in a body.
