Virginia Beach Blvd., the widow of Dr. James Lee Sapp and a retired librarian, died Sunday in a hospital. She was retired from the Brambleton branch of Norfolk Public Libraries and was a life member of Greater Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was treasurer and a member of the Builder’s Club. She was a member of the Young Women’s Christian Association, Clover Leaf Club, and Progressive Garden Club. She was a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Medical Society. A graduate of Hampton Institute, she taught in Emporia schools for 20 years and was an adult education teacher at Booker T. Washington High School. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Audrey S. Tate of Norfolk; a son James Livingstone Sapp of Washington DC; a sister, Mrs Harriett C. Johnson of Philadelphia; a brother, Garland A. Cooke of Hampton; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held thursday at 2 p.m. in Greater Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. Jackson A. Browne. Burial will be in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
