SATCHELL, aged 76 years. The funeral will take place FRIDAY, February 16th, 1900, at 3 o'clock, from the Cumberland Street M.E. Church. Friends and Acquaintances respectfully invited to attend. **************************************************************************** Mr. Robert D. Satchell The venerable and highly respected parted this life at the family residence, No. 89 Virginia Street, this city, at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Satchell was born in Franktown, Northampton County, Va., in 1823, but moved to Norfolk, where he has since resided. In 1853 he was married by Rev. Dr. Nelson, head of the Virginia Conference, to Miss Mary Francis Lovitt, of this city and the two shared the joys and sorrows of wedded life for 46 years, rearing a family of three children, two of them with his widow survive him, Mr. C.T. Satchell and Mrs. W.H. Harrison. During an extensive revival of religion conducted in the sixties by the late Rev. Dr. Leonidas Rosser at Cumberland Street M.E. Church, he was one of a number of three hundred who were converted to God. Soon after he connected himself with that church and has ever since remained a steadfast and consistent member, adorning the doctrines of his Saviour by a consistent life and Godly conservatism. The deceased for many years conducted business in the City Market, but relinquished it several years ago on account of declining health. His illness which terminated in his death was of only a week's duration. But a short time before his departure from earth he gave every assurance of his peace with God and a blessed hope of a life of immortality beyond the grave. He was a charter of Wyandotte Tribe Improved Order of Red Men, which will attend his funeral at Cumberland Street M.E. Church, at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
