A. Sauers. Today all joy has fled. Death has claimed two of the children and the grief-stricken father and mother are fearful that the fatal spinal meningitis stricken father and mother are fearful that the fatal spinal meningitis that c carried them off will attack the remaining child. On March 10 5-year old John Edward Sauers died of the disease. Yesterday 12-year old Charles Carman Sauers died at St. Vincent's. Only little 7-year old Irene is left to the parents now. Mr. Sauers is disconsolate and his wife is prostrated by grief. Last night he said the malady had puzzled Dr. Moncure, who was called in to treat little Charles Sunday evening, and the interns at the hospital where the boy was c carried Monday. It attacked the base of the brain and an analytical examination of the matter from the seat of the trouble will be made to discover the germ. The father and mother of the children are unable to account for the appearance of the disease in their household. They are powerless to give any explanation of the manner their little ones contracted it. They are almost afraid to give utterance to the dread that is adding to their grief. They fear the silent messenger of death will again visit them. They know no way to intercept it.
