The Virginian Pilot Thursday May 3, 1934
Charles August Sauers - Funeral services for Mr. Sauers, who died at the 
residence of his daughter, Mrs. J.H. Hodges, 936 Stewart street, South Norfolk, 
Sunday morning, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the 
funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne road. The services were 
largely attended. The Rev. O.D. Poythress, pastor of the South Norfolk 
Christian Church, assisted by the Rev. H. Wark Curry, pastor of the Ocean View 
Methodist Episcopal Church officiated. There were many floral offerings, the 
casket being covered with a double spray of carnations, sweet peas and 
gladioluses. Members of the Loyal Order of Moose conducted ritualistic services 
at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were P.E. Abiouness, J.B. Ackiss, J.H. Doar, Amos Koonce, George T. 
Fairer and W.G. Baugh. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
