Norfolk - George Saunders Sr., of 2601 Waverly Way died recently in a hospital.  
A native of Powhatan county, he was the husband of Mrs. Lillie Cloyce Saunders 
and a son of the late Charles and Mrs. Lottie Mason Saunders.  He worked for the 
Post Office 28 years and retired in 1970.  He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist 
Church, past chairman of its deacon board, member of the usher board, Men’s 
Chorus, and Tidewater Brotherhood of Deacons.

Besides his widow, surviving are three sons, George W. Saunders Jr., Charles 
Saunders III and Michael Toney Saunders, and a daughter, Miss Lillian Saunders, 
all of Norfolk;  a brother, Charles R. Saunders of New York;  a sister, Mrs. 
Judy Venable of Richmond;  and two grandchildren.

The body was taken to Graves Funeral Home.
