CHESAPEAKE - Mrs. Annie A. Saunders, 64, of 1720 Garwood Lane, the widow of John 
J. Saunders, died Saturday in a Portsmouth hospital.

A native of Colerain, N.C., she lived here 49 years. She was a daughter of Joseph 
and Mrs. Minnie Holley.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Franklin D. Saunders of Brooklyn; four daughters, Mrs. Ometer 
Williams, Mrs. Daisy Durant, and Mrs. Catherine D. Cuffee of Chesapeake, and Mrs. 
Mamie R. Gardner of Hopewell; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Ricks, and a brother, Joseph 
Holley Jr., both of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic 
Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with Fitchett’s Funeral Home in 
charge.
