The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Thursday Feb 3, 1944
Mrs. Hattie Blanchard Saunders, widow of John E. Saunders, died at a local
hospital yesterday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock. She is survived by four daughters,
Mrs. Thomas W. Martin, Mrs. James R. Jenkins, Mrs. Doris Ferguson and Mrs.
Charles R. MacKan, all of Norfolk; five grandchildren; a great grandchild, and
several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Saunders was a native of Sunbury, N.C., and had
been a resident of Norfolk for 50 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
