Norfolk Journal of Commerce Saturday December 22, 1888

Mr. Allen A. Saunders died at the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. George Y. 
McIntosh, on Thursday evening.

The funeral of Mr. Allen Saunders took place from Christ Episcopal Church 
yesterday at 12 o'clock. It was very largely attended and was a befitting 
testimonial to the popularity of the deceased gentleman. Rev. O.S. Barten 
conducted the funeral services and at the conclusion the remains were borne to 
the Elmwood Cemetery and interred. The following gentleman were the pallbearers:
Pickett-Buchanan Camp - Gen. V.D. Groner and Mr. H.L. Smith.
Citizens - Messrs. R.W. Smith, Joseph Pugh, Henry Walke, William D. Crenshaw, J. 
Barry King and Mr. L.W. Tazewell.
