Norfolk - Mrs. Nettie J. Saunders, of 2811 Hollister avenue, died August 16 in a 
local hospital.

A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of Robert Saunders Sr., and the daughter 
of the later Anthony and Mrs. Mary Johnson.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Norfolk and Norfolk 
Mission College. She was a life-long and faithful member of St. John A.M.E. 
Church. She was a member of the Daughters of Norfolk and Household of Naomi 
Lodge 542.

Surviving are one son, Robert Saunders Jr., one sister, Mrs Mattie Cox, one 
granddaughter, Mrs. Barbara S. Gibbs; one great granddaughter, Resa Lynn Gibbs; 
one niece, Mrs. Olga Thomas, two nephews, George Cox and Chauncey Cox and other 
relatives and friends.

Final eulogistic services were held August 19 at St. John A.M.E. Church with 
Rev. R. W. Williams officiating, assisted by Rev. James C. Griffin. Burial was 
in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
