Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 1, 1992
Irene Toxey Sawyer, 101, of the 2700 block of Princess Anne Road, died Jan 31, 
1992. 
Mrs Sawyer was born in Princess Anne County. She was a member of St. John's 
Baptist Church. 
Survivors include a son, R. Everett Sawyer of Virginia Beach; a sister, Ruby T. 
Murden of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six 
great-great-grandchildren. 
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery 
by the Rev. Paul D. Moore and the Rev. Hank Brooks. Friends may join the family 
from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. 
Memorial donations may be made to the Princess Anne Rescue Squad, Attn: Elsie 
Benson, 330 Old Caroline Road, Virginia Beach 23457.
