Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 9,1929

Charles Lee Sawyer, aged 64, died yesterday afternoon at 12:45 o'clock at 
the home of his daughter, Mrs. O.M. Sawyer, 1001 Wellington Avenue, after a 
short illness.  He was a native of Camden County, N.C. and had lived in 
Norfolk for the last 15 years.
He was the son of the late William Sawyer and Mary Halstead Sawyer and 
husband of the late Marina Herring Sawyer.  He is survived by two daughters, 
Mrs. O.M. Sawyer, of South Norfolk and Mrs. S.G. Sandy, of Norfolk; one son, 
Casco Sawyer, of Washington; four brothers, John Sawyer, of California; 
William Sawyer, of North Carolina; George Sawyer, of Portsmouth and Alec 
Sawyer, of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. William Kemp, of Wilmington, 
N.C. and Mrs. John Whitehurst, of this city, and seven grandchildren.
The body was taken to the funeral home of Graham & Sykes, Wellington and 
Jefferson Streets, South Norfolk.  Funeral services will be conducted 
tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, South 
Norfolk.

Charles Lee Sawyer - Funeral services for Mr. Sawyer, who died Sunday 
afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O.M. Sawyer, 1001 Wellington 
Avenue, South Norfolk, will be conducted in the Pentecostal Holiness Church 
this afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.  The 
body will be removed from the funeral home of Graham & Sykes, Jefferson and 
Jackson Streets, to the church.
