Sawyer of 740 Avenue A died Sunday morning in his home. A native of Norfolk, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mrs. Lucy Sawyer and the husband of Mrs. Nannie Sawyer. He retired from Norfolk & Western railway. He was an officer of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, member of the Men's Progressive League, Sons of Norfolk, Campbell Masonic Lodge 67, Cohesion Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, Alpha and Omega Consistory 0, Arabia Temple 12, He was a 33rd Degree Mason. Besides his widow, surviving is a nieces, Miss Alice Sawyer of Norfolk. The body was taken to E.A. Hughes Funeral Home.
