Veronica ''Pete'' Sawyer, 79, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in Mary Immaculate 
Hospital.

A native of Norfolk, she was a lifelong area resident. Known to her grandchildren 
as "Sassy," she was a graduate of St. Joseph's Villa in Richmond and was a 
longtime valued employee of the Lafayette Yacht Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Lenorah deAngelis, wife of U.S. Navy retired 
Capt. Henry J. deAngelis, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Loretta Walker, wife of C.W. 
Walker of Hampton; a brother, Haywood Tiller and his wife, Alice, of Norfolk; a 
sister-in-law, Kitty Tiller of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Jeff Partin of 
Newport, R.I., Mike Partin of Manassas, Chris Partin of Daytona Beach, Fla., Jamie 
Partin of Idaho Falls, Paul deAngelis of Daytona Beach, Scott Walker and his wife, 
Kitty, Eddie Walker and his wife, JoAnn, and Wanda Walker, all of Newport News; 
seven great-grandchildren, Rocky, Eddie, Joseph, Shawn, Danielle, Christopher and 
Tyler Marie; two nephews, Earl Masseu and family of Virginia Beach and J.P. Tiller 
Jr. and family of Columbia, S.C.

A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the Weymouth Funeral Home 
Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. A Mass of the 
Resurrection will be conducted by Fr. Joseph Majewski at 10 a.m. Monday at St. 
Jeromes Catholic Church. Interment will be private in St. Mary's Catholic Church 
Cemetery, Norfolk.

Flowers may be sent and/or memorials in Veronica Sawyer's name may be made to the 
Habitat for Humanity, 809 Main St., Newport News, Va. 23601.
