Norfolk - Alton L. Sawyer of 2815 Woodland avenue died in a hospital.

A native of Roper, NC, he was a son of Mrs. Lillie Mae Jones Sawyer and the late 
Joseph Sawyer and the husband of Mrs. Annie Pattie Sawyer.

He was employed by Norfolk Western Railroad 28 years.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, David H. Sawyer and 
Alton D. Sawyer; two stepsons, Sherman Gordon and Leroy Smith; and a sister, 
Mrs. Lendora Murrell, all of Norfolk; and 10 grandchildren.

Graves Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
