Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark May 5, 1915 

John B. Scelzi died early yesterday morning at his home, 1013 Bermuda Street, 
after a long illness. He was 59 years old. A native of Italy, he had been a 
resident of Norfolk thirty-five years. He was a barber by trade and had many 
friends in the community. He was a member of the Italian Benevolent Society. He 
is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John Briola and Miss Nancy Scelzi, 
both of Norfolk; three sons, John, Joseph and Rocco Scelzi, all of Norfolk and 
two brothers, Rocco Scelzi of Norfolk and Matthew Scelzi of Italy. The funeral 
will take place at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning from St. Mary's Catholic Church 
and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Scelzi left three other sons, Richard, Harry and Eddie Scelzi, all of 
Norfolk.

The funeral of John B. Scelzi took place at 10 o'clock yesterday morning from 
St. Mary's Catholic Church and was well attended. Rev. P.P. Brennan conducted 
the services. Mrs. James Hughes sang "Lead Kindly Light." The Italian Benevolent 
Association, of which Mr. Scelzi was a member, was present in a body with a band 
of music. There were many beautiful flowers. Interment was in St. Mary's 
Cemetery and the pallbearers were A. Albano, J. Caprio, D. Diamonde, G. 
Montagna, R.Rossano, J. Dimiao, J. Minutolo, M. Rogers.
