He was born in Bay City, Mich., and was the son of the late Louise H. Stasinowsky and Harold Schank. Carl was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation, Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 898, Ocean View Democratic and Social Club, Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 69, NARTU. He had been a Red Cross volunteer for many years. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Dawn L. Bullington and her husband, Andy, of Norfolk and Susan S. Rigg and her husband, Edward, of Gordonsville, Va.; a son, Harold T. Schank and his fiancee, Lynda Brown, of Milan, Texas; a brother, Walter Stasinowsky of Essexville, Mich.; and six grandchildren, Paul, Jessica, Jennifer, Thomas, Rebekah and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Dorothy L. Schank; a brother, Thomas Schank; and stepfather, Paul Stasinowsky. A funeral will be conducted at 11 am Saturday in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor James O'Connor. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. for a visitation with friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6001 Granby St., Norfolk. VA 23505 or to the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation.
