Schiller, 63 Stewart Street, South Norfolk, found a box of matches and accidentally set fire to his clothes, dying after two hours of terrible suffering from the effects of his burns. At the time of the accident the only other people in the house were two small children, unable to help him. When his clothing ignited the little boy began to scream at the top of his voice, the other children, frightened almost to death, adding their voices to his, attracting the attention of his aunt, Miss Dean, who was coming to call on his mother. She rushed into the house and threw a jacket around the boy whose clothes were then in a blaze. After wrapping the coat around him in an effort to smother the fire Miss Dean fainted from fright. A passing mail carrier heard the excitement and rushed in the house, but too late to be of assistance. When the coat was removed from the unconscious child his clothing was found to be entirely consumed and the body burned nearly all over. The accident occurred at 10 o'clock and the child died at noon. When the mother came rushing home she was prostrated by the news. The little boy was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Dean, of Jackson Street, South Norfolk. The funeral will take place from his parent's residence this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. R.B. Scott, pastor of the Liberty Street M.E. Church. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
