GEORGE PETER SCHMITT — Funeral services for Mr. Schmitt, who died Tuesday at the 
U. S. Naval Hospi­tal, Portsmouth, were held yesterday at noon at the chapel of the
H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, with the Rev. Peter 
Schoutten, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating. There was a large 
attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with an American 
flag. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military honors. A volley was 
fired by a firing squad and a bugler sounded “taps” at the grave. The pallbearers 
were A. L. Denofa, Tony Pennello, Frank Senick, William Hayhurst, M. Ban­non and 
Harold Lloyd.
