Virginia Beach - Marcella R. Schroeder, 92, died November 15, 2014 in a local 
hospital. Mrs. Schroeder was born in Hartington, NE the daughter of the late Mary 
Hesse and Casper Reuter and also preceded in death by her brothers Leander, Irvin, 
Gerald, Donald, and sisters Bernadette, Delores, and Helen She is survived by her 
daughter, Cheryl S. Thomas. After a long career with the Federal Housing 
Administration, she commenced a second career with the Department of the Navy and 
retired as a personnel classification specialist. She was a marvelous cook and 
always generously shared the bounty of her table with her many friends. She was 
quick of wit and loved crossword puzzles and cryptoquips. She was kind and 
thoughtful and many were benefitted by having had the privilege of knowing her. 
She was independent and resilient throughout her life. Sincere thanks are offered 
to the staff of First Colonial Inn for their many kindnesses. A memorial service 
will be conducted at 3:00pm on Saturday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd. 
Chapel, Virginia Beach. At your discretion, please make a donation to the charity
